Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player secured his first title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.
Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four initial opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
